MERUMAYA Skincare products

I recently received some small samples (very small) from MERUMAYA Skincare, which is a start up company. It hasn’t been around for very long, but surprisingly has a very large range of products. These range from hand cream to toner to supplements. None of the products seem to have the drug store price tag that I was expecting from a start up brand so I was expecting great things.

I was sent a 10ml Cleansing Balm, a 10ml Exfoliating Peel, a 3ml Night Cream and 1ml Youth Serum. So I can’t really tell you if any of these products greatly improved my skin, or dramatically changed my skin care routine, because I haven’t tried enough of the products to do that, but I have emptied these products and think I can give you a pretty fair representation of how good they are.

Let me start with my favourite product that I received, the Melting Cleansing Balm. You can buy 100ml of this for £15.50. You massage this into your face, and it turns your makeup into a kind of weird paste, wet your finger tips and massage again. Use a cotton pad and all your makeup disappears. I was in absolute shock when I used this. I was rubbing it into my face, with my face looking like it was made of bronze clay, thinking ‘this is never going to work’. But once you wipe it with a cotton pad the makeup just comes off, it really is amazing. I haven’t tried this on eye makeup, mainly because of my contact lenses, if I had more of the product, I probably would have gotten a chance to try this out, but it cleared my foundation, eyebrows and blusher and left my skin feeling incredible smooth. At just £15.50 this is definitely worth a buy!

The Overnight Recharge Night Cream retails at £33.50 for 30ml. The product is to be used after cleansing and is meant to restore your skin while you sleep. The product is quite thick and oily, but I like that in a night cream, I like a night cream to feel indulgent and different to a morning moisturiser that has to be light for a makeup base. It applied really easily and smelt lovely and made your skin feel soft. It didn’t blow me away and I didn’t wake up in the morning with my face looking and feeling great like I have done with some night creams. I was expecting a little more for £33.50. Perhaps if I’d had more of the product then I could have seen the impact after using it for a few consecutive nights. Maybe this is one of those products that you need to build up and use regularly to get great results.

The Skin Brightening Exfoliating Peel retails for £19.50 for 50ml. This applies like a face mask, you cover your face with and let it dry for 3 – 10 minutes. It doesn’t dry out so much that you can peel it off, you have to wash the peel off instead. It applies in a really sticky and gooey way – like you would expect. And it doesn’t dry out and feel horrible like some face mask peels. I left it on for 10 minutes and had no irritation or horrible drying out feeling. It washed off easily and left skin feeling great and looking so much brighter. Definitely worth a buy! The only down side of this product is it seems to have a really weird fishy smell, but it isn’t too overpowering, but still not very pleasant.

Lastly I tried out the Iconic Youth Serum that retails at £33.50 for 30ml. I only received one sachet, so I only got one use out of that but wow, I absolutely loved it! After my night time shower, I cleansed and toned my skin and then applied the serum all over my face. It applies really nicely, was quite oily so I wouldn’t recommend using in the morning, or if you suffer from oily skin. When I woke up in the morning my skin looked visibly different, brighter and really fresh. My skin felt so soft and clean. Even though it is a little bit pricey, it is definitely worth it and I will be making a purchase and adding this into my night time routine! Really worth the investment if you suffer from dry patches.
