The Battle of the Primers

I have chosen 3 very different primers to compare for the battle of the primers. A budget, a standard and a luxury primer.

Festival Makeup Tips

My brother and his wife didn’t manage to get Glasto tickets this year, so instead they decided to host a Glasto BBQ. This is basically a regularBBQ, but everyone wears typical festival clothes (wellies of course) and there was a tent and UV face paints in the garden. Now festival makeup has to be light, sweat resistant and glowey (glitter is optional but definitely recommended). Try to keep makeup light purely because it will be less noticeable when it starts to run, smudge or fade, due to excessive wine and of course jumping around wildly waving your arms in the air like you just don’t care.

Clean Your Makeup Brushes

When it gets close to Christmas I start cleaning and organising EVERYTHING. As a kid I would spend weeks going through all my old toys, putting them into charity bags and making room for all the new ones that Santa was going to bring me. I think that has probably stuck with me for my whole life, and now with a few weeks to go I’m starting to get rid of old clothes, bags and shoes. This year I’ve asked Santa for some more Real Technique makeup brushes, the blush brush and the core collection to be precise – which I am veryyyy excited about. But this means that I need to clean my current brushes, find a new (bigger) home for them and sadly throw away my over loved ones.

I’ve been hunting for a new makeup brush holder for weeks – it’s a very serious commitment. And I’ve found lots of pretty ones and lots of big ones, but sadly none nice enough and big enough for me to buy. I chatted to my boyfriend and asked him if he would be able to make me one (he works in the metal industry), eventually he agreed, I’ve sent him measurements for 3 different size pots and I’m waiting patiently for them to be finished.

Now on to cleaning! I HATE cleaning my brushes. It makes me so nervous that I’m going to destroy them, so I’m constantly trying to find a new, convenient way to clean them that doesn’t mean I totally wreck the glue. And I think I’ve finally found it. (I lost a few bristles from my 17 bronzer brush, but let’s not mention that).

I was looking through Amazon and saw some Strictly Professional Cosmetic Brush Cleaner and decided to give it a go. It was only a couple of pound plus postage and thought that I may as well give it a go. It’s like an oily solution, that you stand your brushes in for 15 minutes then rinse with warm water. I decided to just use a normal bowl and used about a third of the bottle, but this cleaned all of my brushes. After the 15 minutes the liquid had all been absorbed into the brushes. Then when you rinse it the makeup just comes straight off, however the oil needs a few rinses before it’s completely gone. But it works  SO well. I rinsed them through once, left them out for a little while on a piece of tissue, then rinsed through again. The oil left them clean and really soft, they also smell lovely. However my bathroom sink was a little more difficult to clean after all that foundation!

Bourjois Bronzing Powder, Worth The Hype?

Is Bourjois Bronzing Powder, Worth The Hype?

I have always avoided Bourjois products, I’ve never really bothered to spend money on them and haven’t really given them much of a chance. A few years ago I tried a Bourjois blusher – I actually stole it from my Mum. And it was awful! A whole other level of awful. It was hard to use and looked dreadful on. You couldn’t just rub your brush on it, you had to scrub your brush in to pick up any powder as the blusher was so compressed. It was like a solid block. Since this, I ignored everything that I have heard and read about Bourjois and continued to use other bronzers even though most people I know, and most beauty bloggers own a Bourjois Bronzing Powder.

The other day I was doing my usual hour long stroll around Superdrug and I saw the Bourjois stand. There were so many more products that looked new and exciting, and so well presented. I thought that it was about time to take the plunge and give Bourjois another chance, hoping that over the past few years it had amended it’s flaws and really was worth the hype. I bought the Bourjois Bronzing Powder Tanned 52 for £7.99.
Now, I can’t comment on any other product that they do, or the blusher that they now sell, but the Bronzing Powder definitely didn’t disappoint. It looks great for, the chocolate image is different and looks really cool. The magnetic case is very practical and means it can easily go in your handbag and you can use it on the go. And it smells absolutely lovely. It has a slight shimmer in it which gives your skin a nice, warm glow. And it is a fabulous colour, not too light or too dark, and has a slightly red tone. Overall it’s great, I absolutely love it, I only wish I had given Bourjois a chance sooner. I will definitely be going back and picking up some other Bourjois products!

What do you think of the Bourjois Bronzing Powder? And what other Bourjois products do you love?
