December is
such a busy exciting month, which means that usually it is over before we now
it. Now that December is drawing to a close I thought it was only right to talk
about my monthly favourites. It is a little more sparkley and party ready than
other months, but these are things that I have been reaching for all month
long!

Christmas Party MakeUp Guide
As we all
know, one of the best and also most stressful parts of December is the amount
of parties that we need to get ready for. Our nails, tan and makeup needs to be
in tip top condition at all times during the month, which isn’t easy when we
don’t have any money and spend all our free time in Christmas pyjamas eating
mince pies. My birthday is slap bang in the middle of December so I have an
added party that I need to get ready for. So I decided to compilea little
Christmas Party makeup guide to give you a helping hand.

Autumn 15 Pamper Routine
Now that the
weather is getting colder, it is the perfect time to get a nice hot bath and
pamper yourself, before getting into some pyjamas and chilling out in front of
the TV. Tonight Rob has gone out and I’ve got the flat to myself, so I thought
it would be the perfect time to have a good old pamper night and spend the rest
my evening watching a Disney film. So I thought I would share with you my
Autumn/Fall pamper routine!

Flexitol Foot Cream
Even though
sandal season is definitely over, it doesn’t mean that we should neglect our
feet until next Summer. I love having a pamper night when the weather is
getting colder, covering them in moisturiser and putting on some big fluffy
socks and giving my feet a little TLC. I was recently sent some Flexitol
goodies, which I was very excited to try out as I normally love everything from
the brand. So here is what I thought..

Oct Superdrug & NewLook Haul
So this week
I have been shopping to pick up some presents for two of my best friends that
share a birthday, we are having a girls weekend away in Blackpool to celebrate,
consisting of a day at the fair and a girls night out. Whilst wondering around
the shops looking for presents I thought it would be rude if I didn’t get
myself a few treats, most of these were from the Superdrug 3 for 2 sale and one
is from New Look. I also bought a gorgeous scarf from Topshop.

Lush Christmas Haul
Recently I
passed an exam which has meant that I can now progress on to the next stage of
my qualification. Me and Rob decided that we should go shopping in Liverpool to
celebrate. Here’s my other post for the other makeup bits that I bought: Link We
also went to Zizzi’s for dinner and had a few drinks before jumping the train
home. But due to the Christmas range in Lush being released the day before, I
just had to drag Rob in to Lush! So here is what I bought!

Well Done Shopping Trip
Recently I
passed my final exam completing the first stage of becoming a chartered
accountant. Obviously this meant we had to celebrate, and some ‘well done me’
prezzies were in order. My mum got me some lovely Yankee Candle goodies, and me
and Rob decided we would get the train to Liverpool for a bit of shopping, a
nice Italian and some drinks. I don’t think he realised quite how much shopping
that would consist of, when he suggested it, but we managed to last the whole
day and didn’t end up on separate trains home. I got two jumpers from Primark,
lots of Christmas decoration, too many Lush Christmas bath bombs and also a
couple of Beauty goodies that I thought I would share with you.

Autumn 15 Yankee Candles
It is now
well and truly Autumn, there is no denying it, it’s time to face the fact that
summer is over, Christmas is right around the corner and things are about to
get really cold and wet, but there is no need to be bikini ready anymore, so
have a flapjack, put on some fluffy socks and an over sized jumper, and lets
embrace the berry lip and golden eyeshadow season together! I for one have been
getting in to the Autumn spirit for a while now and now that it is now more
socially acceptable I am going to start sharing some of my autumnal blog posts
(Yayyyy!), starting with this one. As soon as September hit I started my Autumn
candle hunt and two weeks ago I took the plunge and went to my local garden
centre to pick up some Yankee Candles. Each season I pick up my desired votives
and whichever one is my favourite seasonal scent, I buy it in a large jar so I
can burn it until my heart’s content (Summer’s was Black Coconut if you’re
interested). So here’s what I bought for Autumn 2015!

September 15 Favourites
It’s that
monthly favourites time again! Another month over and another month closer to
Christmas (sorry!!), after saying goodbye to September we can now welcome
October, and undoubtedly welcome Autumn, woooo! (cue the countless Autumnal blog
posts). September was a stressful month for me, filled with revision, exams,
car break downs, buying a new car, having my new car hit by a runaway driver,
hospital visits and finishing off the month with the all clear from my doctors
and passing my exams! But even after ending on a high my usual makeup and skin
care routine took a bit of a hit, this month my skin has been awful so there are
a couple of skin care favourites and as I have worn hardly any makeup due to
hibernating to study most of the month, there are only a couple of faves for
when I have reached for the war paint!

September’s
Glossybox was the Style Edition the theme seems to be grey and pink which is

Mini Lush Haul Sep 15
I went to
Lush last week and picked up a couple of goodies for my sister-in-law and so
obviously had to get some stuff for myself, I know I will have to go back in a
few days due to the release of all the Christmas Lush products, but you can
never have too much Lush, right?! I picked my sister-in-law up a Tisty Tosty
Bath Bomb (£3.35), this is heart shaped and smelt of roses and was filled with
rose petals that float around your bath, floral isn’t really my thing but
perfect for her. But here’s what I came home with for me..

A little while
ago I was sent a tanning mitt and an exfoliating mitt from Glove Your Body, I

the mitts separately or together for €24.99. So here is what I thought!

September 15 Birchbox
So I finally
gave in and signed up to Birchbox, after a full year of receiving Glossybox I
thought I would sink my teeth in to a different Beauty box. After shipping,
both boxes work out around the same price, so I assumed they would be extremely
similar.

Neal's Yard Lavender Bath Salts
I am the
biggest lavender fan! I have lavender candles, bath bombs, oils and obviously a
couple of sticks of lavender in a vase
on the dining table. So these bath salts from Neal’s Yard Remedies sounded
perfect for me! This is the biggest jar of bath salts that I have ever seen (500g) and
you barely need any to fill your bath with lovely lavender scents, so I can see
this lasting me forever!

what I thought of them.

Glossybox Top 10
It has been a
year since I first signed up to Glossybox, in that time I have received 12
boxes, and 2 limited edition boxes. I have found some amazing products, some
great brands and some products that I have repurchased time and time again. I
didn’t realise it was my 12th box until I received a card with my
August box and a Glossybox notebook to say thanks! So I thought I would do my
top 10 products that I have received over the last year, this was much harder
than I thought as there was so many others that I wanted to include.

Dermatique Recuperating Cream
As some of
you will already know I have suffered from eczema for my whole life. When I was
a baby and toddler I was absolutely covered in it, from head to toe, as I got
older it started to affect me only in certain patches age seems to have
resolved the issue, but the one area that I have always had eczema, is on my
hands. I don’t think that will ever leave me, I don’t believe that I will ever
grow out of it, I think this is something that I will have to live with forever
so I try my very best to manage it well.

York Guide
I am finally
telling you all about my fantastic trip to York a couple of weeks ago! Me and
Rob went away for the weekend for his 25th Birthday. We visited York
throughout the day and stayed in Melbourne just outside of York, we had a
fantastic time and I have been dying to tell you all about my trip, so if you
are planning on visiting York soon or looking for a new UK break destination
then here is my York Guide!

SK:N Clinics
I have had
these products for absolutely ages, and I have been dying to tell you all about
them, but I wanted to make sure I gave them a really good try before I shared
with you what I thought! These products were sent to me from sk:n clinics and I
was sent their Cleanser for normal or combination skin, the Blemish Control
Lotion and the Age-Delaying Cream. I adore the packaging, I think they look
really simple and sleek. Sk:n Clinics are official partners with the NHS and the British Skin Foundation.

August '15 Favourites
I know
everyone seems to be moaning about waving goodbye to Summer but I am definitely
welcoming September with open arms. Bring on the berry lips, fluffy scarves and
comfy shoe boots! Throughout August I spent a weekend away in York in a log
cabin on a stunning fishing lake, attended my Friend’s gorgeous wedding,
attended one of my best friend’s little boys first birthday and also had a big
night out in Manchester for one of my best friend’s 23rd birthday.
So I’ve used a lot of different products this month, but here are a few
products that I have kept picking up again and again all throughout August!

Angelica Nails
For any of you that follow me on Instagram you will
definitely have noticed my insane love for Angelica Nails. The lovely people
there recently sent me some nail varnishes to try out. They sent me a top coat,
a base coat and 15 different varnishes. The varnishes are all very very
affordable (around £2/£2.50) but more importantly there is so much choice,
there is literally a nail varnish to match every outfit you have. The range is
incredible and seems to always be changing and expanding.
All the varnishes apply super easily (Elfin was a tiny
bit gloopy, but the other 16 varnishes I tried were the perfect consistency) and
don’t chip easily! The base coat dries clear and keeps nails healthy and the
top coat keeps nails looking really shiny. Both were really simple to use.

products. I was sent two soaps and a shower Soufflé. The box came beautifully
wrapped, with handmade labels for the soaps and potpourri sprinkled in the hay

I’ve recently been to Superdrug and couldn’t help but to

there wasn’t a huge range of things, and shockingly there was no Revolution!!
But here’s what I picked up.

A couple of months ago I picked up one of the new Radox

Wilko's Kiss Range
I
have heard a lot of mixed reviews for Wilkos new beauty range Kiss, so I
thought it was definitely time that I gave it a try and made my own mind up. I
bought 5 things from the range; the primer, body scrub, cleansing foam, clay
face mask and the lip scrub. The whole range has this very sweet and simple

Festival Makeup Tips
My brother and his wife didn’t manage to get Glasto tickets this year,
so instead they decided to host a Glasto BBQ. This is basically a regularBBQ,
but everyone wears typical festival clothes (wellies of course) and there was a
tent and UV face paints in the garden. Now festival makeup has to be light,
sweat resistant and glowey (glitter is optional but definitely recommended).
Try to keep makeup light purely because it will be less noticeable when it
starts to run, smudge or fade, due to excessive wine and of course jumping
around wildly waving your arms in the air like you just don’t care.

Revolution Lip Gloss
A little while ago I was majorly dropping hints to my boyfriend to skip down to superdrug and get me some revolution eye shadow palettes. One evening I came home from work to find a lovely little lip set. It had 3 very bright chunky lip pencils and this clear gloss.
I am a gloss lover, I never keep a matte lipstick, matte for very long, I am gloss obsessed. No matter how much I try to leave my lipstick alone, the drying out and peeling dread comes over me and I reach for a gloss! This gloss is perfect, it's not a plumper or pucker or anything too uncomfortable and fancy, it's just a plain everyday gloss. Yes, I know glosses can be heavy and sticky and irritating. But this is light and not at all sticky, which is great for blustery days and the occasional smooch.

Weight Loss Progress W7
This is week 7 of my New Year diet, and this week I lost 1 pound! Not a
great deal, but atleast I’m still losing weight. My total weight loss now is
7.5 pounds! But I definitely need to up my game!

MERUMAYA Skincare products
I recently received some small samples (very small) from
MERUMAYA Skincare, which is a start up company. It hasn’t been around for very
long, but surprisingly has a very large range of products. These range from
hand cream to toner to supplements. None of the products seem to have the drug
store price tag that I was expecting from a start up brand so I was expecting
great things.

Week 4, 5 and 6 Weight Loss Progress
Now as you will have read, or realised, I haven’t been
posting these weight loss posts like I said I would. My initial plan was to
post every week with an update of my weight loss and how I have done it, and
then every month an update of my weight loss in inches. I did this for 3 weeks
and everything was going smoothly. I had lost a total of 8.5 pounds since New
Year. In Week 4 I lost another pound totally 9.5 pound weight loss. However
after this week I became extremely busy and my blog suffered because of it. I
haven’t done my weekly weight loss posts, my Glossybox reviews or any other
post.
My Very BIG News
So first off let me apologise. I have been massively neglecting
my blog recently and haven’t posted for a while. I haven’t done my weekly
weight loss updates, my Glossybox reviews or any other posts. So don’t worry I
will try my best to get back up to date as soon as possible. It’s all due to
being extremely busy and this is why.

Weight Loss Progress Week 3
I should have posted this on Wednesday but I have had
such a busy week – apologies. In the last week I have lost 1 pound I know that doesn’t sound like a lot but added to my total since the 2nd Jan I have lost 8.5 pounds, so I’m just pleased that I
lost something, especially after the cheat week that I had!

Harvey Nichols Glossbox
As you all know, I am a very big beauty box fan. And my beauty box
of choice is Glossybox. I absolutely love surprises, little surprises, big
surprises. Love them all. And a beauty box is like buying yourself a lovely
surprise every month! So naturally when I saw the advert for the limited
edition Harvey Nichols Glossybox, I just had to have it.

I Heart Make Up - Chocolate Desire
So recently I went into my town centres Superdrug to have
a look at what I could pick up from Revolutions new I <3 Make Up range. The
range they had in store was a little disappointing, nothing like what they have
available online, so I only picked up a I <3 Bronzer in Chocolate Desire and
a You’re Gorgeous Eye Shadow palette, which is definitely gorgeous. There are a
lot of shadows to get through on it, so I won’t write up a review until I’ve
given them all a good try.
Lost Another 3 Pound, Here's How
This is my second week of my New Year diet, and this week
I have lost 3 pounds! That makes 7.5 pounds over all! Half a stone in just two
weeks. I am so made up and excited to finally be getting back into dieting! I
am starting to feel much healthier. I already feel like I have more energy, I
wake up in the morning much more easily, and all the extra water has made my
skin look so much brighter!
You will find last week’s post here: http://megandoesbeauty1.blogspot.co.uk/2015/01/i-lost-45-pounds-in-5-days-heres-how.html
So let me tell you how I’ve done it this week..
My diet is basically slimming world, but with a few
twists as I’m quite fussy, love junk food and hate veg and salads!
So let me start with this week’s top tips!
Top
Tips
Treat

are more likely to stick with a diet if you allow yourself the OCCASIONAL
treat.
If like me, you also hate the gym, try to stay active as best you can, do things
like take the stairs or walk to the shops
Drink plenty of
water, it helps you to digest food and also makes you feel fuller!
Try to swap old foods for healthier alternatives
I always stick to counting saturated fat, I don’t take
notice of calories or sugar, saturated fat is what we store, so that is what I
concentrate on and I love carbs! This diet works for me and it helps me lose
weight. Not all diets work for everyone, but this is definitely worth giving a
go!
What
I Ate
Wednesday
7th Jan
Granola and semi-skimmed milk
Muller Light yogurt
Jacket potato and beans
Fruit pot – Strawberries, grapes and pineapple
Chicken and pesto in flatbread – ASDA
Walkers baked crisps
Chicken bites
Handful of wine gums
On Wednesday I was at a meeting in Bristol, so woke up in
a hotel, were thankfully I could get granola and a yogurt, then went to our
Bristol office were I had my jacket potato and beans and fruit pot. Then spent
the whole of the evening travelling home. Hence all the cheat food! The chicken
flatbread was the healthiest thing they sold in the convenience deli section at
ASDA, it was actually gorgeous and not too fatty. The crisps were a little
naughty – but atleast I picked baked. And chicken bites are great because they’re
just little pieces of chicken! So healthy. And wine gums are a great
alternative to chocolate as they contain no fat – but do have a lot of sugar so
don’t eat more than a handful.
Thursday
8th Jan
Granola and semi-skimmed milk (again a small bowl – 30g)
Beans and a Jacket potato
Apple
Grilled Gammon, fried eggs done in Fry Light and
spaghetti hoops and slimming world wedges
And a handful of wine gums
Beans and a jacket potato are great. On Slimming World
they’re syn-free and it is so filling – don’t put any butter on though! Grilled
gammon and spaghetti hoops are also syn-free. Make sure to grill your gammon,
never fry and make sure you remove all fat before cooking. Fried eggs are great
if they’re cooked in Fry Light!
Friday
9thJan
Granola and Milk
Super Noodles – curry
Muller Light
Chicken skewers and rice
Granola is a great alternative to toast – however it is
not amazing, so make sure you only have a small bowl – 30g. People think Super
Noodles are really bad for you because they’re quick and easy to make, however
they actually don’t have too much saturated fat in and the spice makes your
metabolism kick in!
Saturday
10th Jan
Bacon, beans, eggs and one piece of dry toast
Tomato, chicken and basil pasta pot – CO-OP
Special K Cracker Crisps – Salt and vinegar
Subway
Walkers Baked Crisps
Handful of skittles
On slimming world you can have a syn-free breakfast which
is great. If you cut the fat off your bacon and grill it and fry your eggs in
Fry Light then it is all fairly healthy. Only have one piece of toast and don’t
butter it! I was out all day with my friends so I grabbed a pasta pot from CO-OP
which is my favourite – I adore it. And it isn’t TOO bad. And then on the
evening I got in late, couldn’t be bothered cooking, so I went to Subway –
naughty me. I got a 6 inch with teriyaki chicken, lettuce and sweet onion sauce
– No cheese! (It killed me to say no to the cheese)
Sunday
11th Jan
Bacon, beans, eggs and one piece of dry toast
Chicken Fajitas
Popcorn – sweet (0.8g of Sat Fat)
Too many wine gums
So the fajitas I made by frying chicken in Fry Light
adding the packet spice, onions and peppers. I then warmed through low fat
tortillas, and served with lettuce, low fat cheese, low fat onion and garlic
dip and salsa! Popcorn is a great alternative to crisps as it has hardly any
sat fat in it. And there is no excuse for the wine gums – I got carried away
Monday
12th Jan
Granola and Milk
Slimming World Chilli and Rice (Recipe below)
Muller Light
Turkey skewers and boiled potatos
Few Harribo gummy bears
Salt and V popcorn
Turkey is great because it is even more healthy than
chicken. Cut it into chunks, roll in spices and put on a skewer and place in
the oven. Serve with potatos – but don’t add butter.
Tuesday
13th Jan
Granola and Milk
Super Noodles – Curry
Muller Light
Banana
Slimming World Spag Bol (recipe below)
Exercise
I went to the gym on Tuesday night, but that’s all I’m
afraid. Not much of a gym bunny!
I did 30 minutes on the cross trainer, 30 minutes on the
bike. 3 sets of 10 on one arm weight machine (no idea what they’re called but
it focused on shoulders) and 3 sets of 10 on another (again no idea but it
focused on chests). And 3 sets on 10 squats on the power plate
Recipes
Slimming
world Spag Bol
Fry minced pork in a few sprays of fry light, add in
chopped onions and peppers! Once all fried add in a tin of chopped tomatoes, 1
tsp garlic paste, 1tsp cumin, 1tsp oregano, season to taste! Eat with dried
spaghetti.
Slimming
world Curry
There are lots of slimming world curries that I love,
this is just one!
Fry chicken in fry light spray with onions, once fried
add 2tsp of root ginger, 2tsp garlic, 1tbsp of curry powder, 1tsp cumin, ¼ tsp
of turmeric, a tin of chopped tomatoes and 300ml of chicken stock.
Slimming
World Chips
Chop up a large potato, either into wedges using the skin
or chips after peeling. Place on a baking tray, spray with fry light and cover
in salt and pepper and mixed herbs! They are gorgeous!
Slimming
World Chilli
Fry minced pork in fry light, with onions, peppers and
carrots. Once fried add in tin of chopped tomatoes, 1 tsp garlic paste, 2 tsp
cumin,1 tsp cinnamon, 2tsps paprika, tin of kidney beans, tin of baked beans.
So all that food, all that cheating, and hardly any
exercise and I still lost 3 pounds in 7 days! Each day I drank 2 litres of water,
but also drank diet fizzy drinks along with a few cups of tea and milk. Just
try to swap for healthy alternatives, I don’t really like salads or veg and
have to force myself to eat them, it’s much easier for me to stick to hhealthy
carbs and avoid fatty foods, oils, butters and sauces. I didn’t drink any
alcohol this week. It’s my friend’s birthday this weekend so I know that we
will have a heavy drinking session for our night out in Machester – so I
thought I’d try to give myself a rest this week.

I Lost 4.5 Pounds in 5 days, here's how!
In the last 5 days I have lost 4 and a half pounds starting back on my diet! So let me tell you
how I’ve done it!
I started in Jan 2014, I lost a total of 2 stone and 4
pounds up until Aug 2014, by following this diet. After my summer holiday the
weight started to creep on and by Christmas I was stuffing my face. I let
myself go a bit crazy over December because I knew I’d be starting back in
January. So here I am in January starting all over again, after putting back on
some of the weight I was 1 stone 3 and a half pounds lighter than when I
started this in Jan 2014. But I’m now going to start a new slate, with a new
starting weight and a new weight loss goal!
This is my last 2014 transformation
I started on Friday 2nd January, I measured
and weighed myself with my new initial amounts. My new weigh day is now
Wednesday, so this means that this week was just a 5 day week, but next week I
will give you the full 7 day breakdown, Wednesday to Wednesday. And I plan to
measure myself every month!
My diet is basically slimming world, but with a few
twists as I’m quite fussy, love junk food and hate veg and salads!
So let me start with some top tips!
