September 15 Birchbox

So I finally gave in and signed up to Birchbox, after a full year of receiving Glossybox I thought I would sink my teeth in to a different Beauty box. After shipping, both boxes work out around the same price, so I assumed they would be extremely similar.

Turns out I was wrong, Glossybox is filled with 5 products, usually atleast one is a full sized product, and the remaining are pretty large, large enough to get a good few goes of, with a mix of budget, medium range and high end products. Birchbox however is filled with samples, very small samples, I suppose the point is to give the products a try and if you like them, to go out and buy the real deal, they all tend to have a medium range price tag, so possibly something you would like to try before you buy? Will it replace my Glossybox? Definitely not! But I did like the box. I think I will wait until after next month’s box and see if I will continue my subscription. So here’s what I got.

Birchbag
The products all came in a cute little string pull bag, which I really loved!

Laura Mercier Facial Polish
£26
This is a facial exfoliator, I absolutely love exfoliators, they work wonders for my skin, any kind of peel is great for me. You massage this in to damp skin, then rinse off. It has a really light fruity scent, so I am super excited to give this a try!

Bliss – Lemon and Sage Soapy Suds
£16.50
This can be used in the shower or as a bubble bath, it smells really fresh and citrusy. I’m thinking of keeping this for weekends away as it is the perfect travel size

Laqa & Co Cheeky Lip Pencil – Humble Brag
£17
As a general rule, I don’t like cheek and lip pencils but this is actually quite nice. For lips the colour is really pigmented and quite bright, it’s a little tricky to apply because of the shape of the bullet but it’s nice and matte but also feels quite moisturising. For cheeks this blends quite nicely which is normally the problem with cheek and lip pencils, it gives quite a nice pop of colour to cheeks.

John Masters Organics Citrus Neroli Detangler
£16
This is essentially a leave in conditioner, the bottle would probably only give my hair to one treatment, it smells quite orangey which is really nice and feels really nourishing.

Benefit the POREfessional License to Blot
£15.50
I have been wanting to try this because I do suffer from oily patches on my skin, this should mattify shine on your skin. It doesn’t say whether this is meant to be used before or after makeup, so I assume it is before. It feels quite chalky in the tube, but hopefully that means it works a treat. Looking forward to giving this a go!

The Birchbrush
£5.99
This is a lot like a tangle teaser, I really like it and I like the shape and colour. Really useful and it makes my hair look so soft and thick after use, I absolutely love it!

Have you tried any of these products, what did you think?

What do you think of Birchbox in comparison to other beauty boxes?

  1. Oh I didn't realise it was all samples either. Shocking!
I cancelled my GlossyBox as I'd ended up with about 6 mascaras and it all just got a bit samey. The "My little box" I think will be my next one to try, they always look super sweet.

  2. I've not tried any other beauty boxes so I've nothing to compare it too but I love Birchbox so far. Definitely agree that some of the products could be larger though x

  4. I've never tried Birchbox, but the reviews I've heard are about 50/50. I've been wanting to try the Porefessional products, but I just haven't gotten a chance to. Hope it works out for you! :)

  5. The contents of the box are amazing...just a shame that they are all in sample sizes. I really like the sound of the Bliss soapy suds. I'm looking forward to your thoughts on the Benefit license to blot.
